SWEDEN ~ Drottningholm Palace - UNESCO ~

... Nice view of a royal residence renowned as the "Versailles of Scandinavia"... built in grand Baroque style and boasts around 600 rooms.... this golden-hued yellow palace today is one of the finest and best-preserved palaces in Northern Europe... since 1981, Drottningholm Palace has been the home of the current Swedish royal family... parts of the palace and the grounds are open to the public... and it's certainly worth a visit to marvel at its ornate furnishings, decor and the impressive gardens... Thanks srgboy!ツ

The palace is built on the island of Lovon in Lake Malaren, in a suburb of Stockholm called Drottningholm and was built between 1662 and 1750. Amongst the highlights at Drottningholm Palace are its restored 18th century theatre (the work of Louisa-Ulrika), Canton Village, its gardens  and the Chinese pavilion gifted to Gustav III in 1769.

Drottningholm is Swedish for “Queen’s Island.”

In 1991, Drottningholm Palace became a UNESCO World Heritage site.

SWEDEN ~ Moose ~

... Nice view of a large Bull Moose resting in grass... not just Sweden’s most famous animal, they are the king of the forest... Sweden has the densest population of Moose in the World... there around 400,000 moose and about 100,000 are hunted each year... about the same number of moose are also born each year, so the population is stable... but believe it or not, seeing a wild moose can be difficult... there are many places that offer moose safari, which significantly increases your chances of having an encounter with the king of the forest... I wonder did you see this mighty animal on your vacation???😊 Thanks a lot Gian Luca and Raffaella! ♥(ˆ⌣ˆԅ)

The Moose is the largest member of the deer family. They reach 170 – 210 cm height at shoulder. Bulls weigh weigh 380 – 850 kg and cows weigh 200 – 360 kg.

Moose may live up to 25 years but because of the intensive hunting few moose survive to become older than 10 years. Since more bulls are hunted only 5-10% of the bulls reach the age of 5 years, but cows often become 10 or even 20 years old.

SWEDEN ~ Stortorget Square - Stockholm ~

... Pretty view of the colorful houses on Stortorget square in the Old Town... Stortorget ("The Big Square") is not only the main square in Stockholm's old town, but also the oldest square in the city...  it’s lined by beautiful buildings and houses dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries, once owned by wealthy merchants... home to several architectural monuments: the house of Schantz, the house of Grill, the exchange building, the Stortorgsbrunnen well... Thanks a lot Gian Luca and Raffaella! \_(♥‿♥)_/

Sweden is part of the Scandinavian peninsula in Northern Europe and the 3rd largest country in Europe, the 1st in Northern Europe and shares a border with Norway, Finland, and Denmark.

Stockholm sits on 14 islands that are connected by 57 bridges. Stockholm was first mentioned as a town in 1252 and was largely built by the Swedish ruler Birger Jarl. It grew rapidly as a result of a trade agreement made with the German city of LĂŒbeck.

Stockholm is built on an archipelago of islands and inlets.

Södermalm forms the southern district of central Stockholm. Before, Södermalm was known as Åsön. Although Södermalm usually is considered an island, water to both its north and south does not flow freely but passes through locks. Södermalm is connected to its surrounding areas by a number of bridges.
