...This must be one of my lucky weeks!^__^
After a new place on thuesday I received another new island for my collection today! An amazing sunset in Jersey... The colors of the sky and water are soooo beautiful.
Unfortunately there was no cancellation on the stamp.
Elizabeth Castle provides a striking profile behind the harbours. The castle was built at the end of the 16th century. Noirmont Point is the most southerly headland in Jersey .
The Bailiwick of Jersey is a British Crown Dependency off the coast of Normandy, France
This site is dedicated to my hobby: collecting written and stamped (from country of origin) postcards! Postcard collecting is a very addictive hobby, but its a lot of fun, and you get in touch with lots of nice people worldwide...

CROATIA ~The National Park Kornati~
Received a wonderful view of Croatia today... A really unknown country for me...By searching for information about the place I found a lot that describes its beauty!
...The Adriatic sea belongs to the bluest seas in the world. The colour of this sea is almost unbelievable. Crystal clearness of the sea enables you to see the sea bottom with its various shapes: crevices, holes, caves, red coral, shells and many sorts of fish. Love the stamp too!! :-)
I think this says it all:
"On the last day of Creation, God wished to crown his work and made the Kornati islands out of his tears, the stars and his breath."
George Bernard Shaw
The Kornati islands are situated in the central part of the Croatian Adriatic.
Because of its exceptional landscape beauty, interesting geomorphology, diversity of the coastline and especially because of the rich biocoenoses of the marine ecosystem, greater part of the Kornati maritime zone has been declared a national park in 1980.

GUERNSEY ~Sark~
Yeaaah!!! It's been a while but today I received another new place for my collection... A great nature view of Sark, an island near to Guersney.
No cars are allowed, not many people, just beauty, peace and quiet... Must be a wonderful holiday destination! :-)
Normally I thank everyone who sent me a card personnaly but I really don't know from whom this card is.... So a BIG THANKS from here!!^__^
Guernsey also has its own stamps and currency
Step back in time in beautiful Sark. Traffic-free and overflowing with natural beauty, the island is easily reached by ferry from Guernsey.
Stunning coastal views and a picturesque rural interior are best experienced either on foot or by bicycle (available for rent on the island). The journey from Guernsey to Sark by boat is a distance of 9 miles and takes approximately 45 minutes.

Czech Republic ~Cervená Lhota Castle~
Received a wonderful winterview castle today.... The white of the snow against the red of the castle is so nice!
Červená Lhota Castle is a monument that gracefully maintains the balance between a representative aristocratic residence and a simple Renaissance fortress.
The impressive effect of the natural surroundings of the Deštná Creek with its castle lake, the age-old magic of a local residence strengthened by the appreciation of the „knightly“ Renaissance, is perhaps the main reason of the perpetual attraction of this place.

BELGIUM ~Manneken Pis~
And another nice Belgian card from Johan with our famous "Manneken Pis"... He is one of the main attractions in our capital Brussels, but I must admit that a lot of people are disappointed when they see him.... the statue is really, really small...
With great first cancellations of new stamps issued on 20-09-2010... Heel erg bedankt Johan!!
Manneken Pis is a famous Brussels landmark. It is a small bronze fountain sculpture depicting a naked little boy urinating into the fountain's basin. It was designed by Jerome Duquesnoy and put in place in 1618 or 1619.

CHINA ~Belgian Pavilion-Shanghai~
Yesterday I was talking about the Shanghai World Expo 2010 and today I found a postcard in my mailbox showing the Belgian Pavilion sent from Shanghai... Great!!
Belgium has translated the “BetterCity, Better Life” theme into a pavilion that is characterised on the outside by neat lines in recyclable materials. The building has been designed and constructed so that it can be used again and for other purposes after the Expo, and is easy to dismantle and rebuild. A conscious decision was made not to build on the whole site, instead reserving around one third for green space. The building’s energy consumption has been optimised, for instance by limiting the use of glass to the north façade in order to reduce the building’s heat load. On the roof, 1100 m² solar panels generate energy for use by the kitchens and the restaurant.
The inspiring overall concept of the Brain Cell, or neuron, inside the pavilion demonstrates the importance of science to the intellectual and cultural development of our society and symbolises our highly globalised and complex world with all of its communication facilities. It is a direct reference to innovation in the field of biotechnology, chemistry and nanotechnology. The Brain Cell also calls forth associations with the wealth of art in Belgium and Europe. Finally, this key concept represents Belgium as a crossroads of civilisation and centre of Europe, which has its own Expo space in our pavilion – a first in the history of the World Expo.

Vsikhsvyatska (All-Saints') Church, 1696-98. Located above the Economic Gate in the Ukrainian Baroque style. At the beginning of the 20th century the interior was decorated with pictorial and ornamental oil paintings. Fragments of 17th century paintings have been uncovered. Contains a carved and gilded wood iconostasis from the 18th century. One of the finest monuments of Ukrainian Baroque architecture.

MALAYSIA
Another fantastic card arrived today with such a great stamp !!! It was one of my favorites...I love this beautiful sea creatures, when you think that they are here fore more than 65 million years, they even have witnessed the fall of the dinosaurus.... But sadly due to the careless of people they are threatened with extinction... :-( Hopefully sea turtle sanctuary like this can save them...
Different stages of the turtle life cycle. Adult turtles take about 30 years to mature before they can repodruce. Along the coast of Terrengganu, east coast of peninsular Malaysia is the mayor nesting site for the green and hawksbill turtles.

MAURITIUS
Yippieeee....A card from an amazing, wonderful island. It is certainly one of the "Hard-To-Get countries" and my second written and stamped card ever from Mauritius!! It is great especially with the view of the Dodo:
The island of Mauritius is renowned for having been the only known home of the dodo. First sighted by Europeans around 1600 on Mauritius, this bird was an easy prey to settlers due to its weight and inability to fly. It became extinct less than eighty years later.
Love the stamps too...
Mauritius is situated in the warm and crystal clear Indian Ocean, to the east of the island of Madagascar, which itself, lies off the southeast of Africa near Mozambique.

CANADA ~Mount Christie and Mount Brussels-Jasper National Park- Alberta-UNESCO~
Love those beautiful Canadian nature views... This card is really special because its with a view of Mount Brussels (our Belgian capital) I think this is one of reasons for the name:
Edith Louise Cavell (1865-1915) was a British nurse during World War I. In 1907, she went to Brussels as a nurse, but by 1914 was put in charge of a unit whose main purpose was to help soldiers trapped behind enemy lines rejoin their units. To the German army, this was treason, and she was executed by firing squad. Today she is remembered as a heroine, and to some, a martyr. In 1916, the snow-capped face of this 3,363 m. (11,033 ft.) peak was renamed in her honour.
Thanks for chosing this great card for me!!
Jasper National Park is the largest wilderness park in the Canadian Rockies. The park encompasses more than 10,000 square km, and has more than 1,000 km in trails. Jasper National Park is also an integral part of the UNESCO Rocky Mountain World Heritage Site, and one of the core parts of the largest national park system in the world.

USA ~Florida-The St Marks Lighthouse~
...What a coincidence, on monday I received a multiview with all Florida's lighthouses on and today I got a beautiful singleview (US-807870) of one of those lighthouses...:-)GREAT!!
Guiding mariners through the shallows of Florida's Apalachee Bay since 1831, the St Marks Lighthouse is the second oldest lighhouse in the state. Today, it is located within the boundaries of the St Marks National Wildlife Refuge, one of the most pristine natural areas along Florida's Gulf Coast.

SRI LANKA ~Medirigiriya~
Got a wonderful card with great stamps...
There must be a reason why Sri Lanka or "sacred island" is known as "The Pearl of the Indian Ocean"...
I've already said it by receiveng another Sri Lanka postcard:
...With its beautiful palm fringed sandy beaches, emerald green tea plantations, exotic wildlife, ancient culture, fascinating temples, colourful festivals and friendly people Sri Lanka is the ideal place for an unforgettable holiday experience...... (Found on the internet) Its one of those rare beautiful exotic places of which you can't stop with searching for information...
The vatadage at Medirigiriya is generally considered to be the best vatadage in the country. The circular building known as a vatadage was constructed to house and protect a dagoba built to enshrine the sacred relics of the Buddha.
The MedirigiriyaVatadage is on a high circular stage. It has three circles of concentric ( with the same centre ) pillars; the innermost circle has 16 pillars, the middle line has 20 while the outermost circle has 32 pillars. The tops of these pillars are similar in appearance to the pillars at the Thuparama Dagobe in Anuradhapura. Between the middle and outer circles of pillars is a circular brick wall with four doorways opening onto the four sides.
Around the outermost circle of pillars is a decorated stone wall about three and a half feet high. All stone pillars around this vatadage are still standing four large seated Buddha statues are built facing the four directions.

INDONESIA ~The Sangiran Early Men Site-UNESCO~
Received a great lighthouse card from the USA and a very interesting card from Indonesia, a site in Central Java. Both again with such nice stamps...
Sangiran is an archaeological excavation site at the island of Java in Indonesia. In 1996 it was accepted as World Heritage by the UNESCO.
In 1934 the anthropologist Gustav Heinrich Ralph von Koenigswald started to examine the area. During excavations in the next years fossils of some of the first known human ancestors, Pithecanthropus erectus ("Java Man", now reclassified as part of the species Homo erectus), were found here. About 60 more human fossils, among them the enigmatic "Meganthropus", have since been found here. In addition, there are considerable numbers of remains of the animals that these primitive humans hunted, and of others that merely shared the habitat.

PORTUGAL ~The Berlengas archipelago-The Forte de São João Baptista ~
Got two great cards today, an official (GB-163738) from Scotland. For me the coastline of Great Britain is one of the most beautiful...
And a wonderful card from the "Berlengas Islands" a place I never heard of!
Must be really special to spend a night in the fortress...
It is a marine reserve and has been classified by the Council of Europe as a "Biosphere Reserve". The archipelago consists of a large island, Berlenga Grande, and some small granite islands and rocks (Estelas and Farilhões).
Built on a rock adjacent to the Berlenga island and connected to it by a small bridge, there stands the Forte de São João Baptista, a Manueline military fortress built in 1502.You can spend the night at the fortress, there is also a restaurant on the island.

SCOTLAND ~Aberdeenshire coast~
The darmatic cliffs near the Bullers of Buchan, on the rocky Aberdeenshire coast near Peterhead Scotland.
Its a marine erosion with some of the most impressive cliff-side views in Britain. The name is probably derived from 'boilers', referring to the seething waters that impact against the bottom of these majestic cliffs. The sea through time has carved caves and inlets into the cliffs, making them spectacular to walk round.

Received a "funny" looking card from Netherland (NL-418110)!The license plate says "Greetings" from Lelystad... Again a card from a neighbouring country.. I love each card but sometimes I wish to receive an official from a bit more exotic place...
Lelystad is a municipality and a city in the centre of the Netherlands, and it is the capital of the province of Flevoland. The city, built on reclaimed land, was founded in 1967 and was named afterCornelis Lely, who engineered the Afsluitdijk, making the reclaiming possible. Lelystad is approximately 5 metres (16 ft) below sea level.

GERMANY ~Black Forest~
Got another official from Germany (DE-681357). A mapcard from the "Black Forest". Maybe I can use it someday because I also love walking...:-) with cute stamp too!!
The Black Forest is a wooded mountain range in southwestern Germany. The highest peak is the Feldberg with an elevation of 1,493 meters (4,898 ft). The name Schwarzwald, goes back to the Romans who referred to the thickly forested mountains there as Silva Nigra , because the dense growth of conifers in the forest blocked out most of the light inside the forest.
