... Lovely views of one of the city's most iconic landmarks... a symbol from the past and present... today the Tower is a major tourist destination and popular dining spot... on the Observation Deck perched at 525 feet (160 metres) in the air, you'll experience a spectacular 360° view of the bustling city, the majestic Rocky Mountains, the foothills, and the prairies... the place where you can see the city between your feet... but the glass floor tends to make some visitors weak in the knees🙈... sent on "World Postcard Day" celebrated on October 1st👍... Thanks a lot Glenn! (✿◠‿◠)
The Calgary Tower is a 190.8m (626 ft) free standing observation tower in the city's downtown core of Calgary. Originally called the Husky Tower, it was conceived as a joint venture between Marathon Realty Company Limited and Husky Oil as part of an urban renewal plan and to celebrate Canada's centennial of 1967.
The tower was built at a cost of CA$3,500,000 and weighs approximately 10,884 tonnes, of which 60% is below ground. It opened to the public on June 30, 1968 as the tallest structure in Calgary, and the tallest in Canada outside Toronto. It was renamed the Calgary Tower in 1971.
