... Had to take a good look at the picture before I noticed that it all are food stallsđ... Singapore is one of the best food cities in Asia... the vibrant street food culture of Singapore centers around hawker centers, enormous indoor/outdoor marketplaces lined with stalls serving regional delicacies that range from sweet, saucy chili crab to rich, spicy laksa, a noodle soup... few tips for successful hawker-hunting: sharing a table with strangers is the norm and a great way to meet locals... queues are a fail-safe indication of flavor... the longer the queue, the better the food... if in doubt, ask... there will usually be someone around who can explain what’s in a certain dish is... and mostly, if it smells good, it is good!đThank you Jobbo!!【ă】
Singapore’s street food is no longer sold on the street. Starting in the late 1960s, the government began moving hawkers (the local term for street food vendors) into clean, purpose-built centers.
There are currently 114 government run public hawker centres in tiny Singapore.
You'll usually find a selection of local dishes as well as flavors from across the world, including Chinese, Malay, Indian, and western.
