AUSTRIA ~ Kitzbühel - Tyrol ~

...  Lovely colorful streetview of a small medieval town in Tyrol... one of the most famous and luxurious Austrian winter holiday resorts... Kitzbühel is well known for the Hahnenkamm race, the toughest downhill race of the world... the first ski race, organized by Franz Reisch, took place already in 1895... there are 56 cableway and lift facilities and 168 km of slopes available, as well as 40 km of groomed cross-country skiing tracks... in summer there are 120 km of mountain bike paths and 500 km of hiking trails... Thanks a lot dear Dustin for thinking of me while on vacation!!【ツ】 http://postcardsblogatdustin.blogspot.com/
Kitzbühel is  situated  in the Kitzbühel Alpsbetween the mountains Hahnenkamm (elev. 1,712 m (5,617 ft)) adjacent to the southwest and Kitzbühler Horn (1,996 m (6,549 ft)) to the northeast.

The town gets its name from a Bavarian clan who lived in the Tyrol mountains called the ‘Chizzo’, and ‘Buhel’ which indicates the position of the locality on a hill. So the town became “Chizbuhel” which is now know as Kitzbuhel.
