NETHERLANDS ~ Stadsmuseum - Woerden - Lower Germanic Limes - UNESCO ~

... Interesting bronze object... a unique asparagus knife that can be seen at the museum... the top floor is dedicated to the Roman roots of Woerden... important to Dutch archaeology, history and heritage... more Roman highlights at the museum are a parade helmet, a bronze oil lamp and a sword... the Dutch part of The Lower German Limes comprises 38 locations... Thanks Karin!【ツ】

Stadsmuseum Woerden is established in the former townhall of Woerden, which was built in 1501 in late Gothic style. It then consisted of a ground floor and attic.

The Lower Germanic Limes marked the edge of lower Germany from the first to the fifth centuries CE. Spanning Germany and the Netherlands, they form Europe’s largest linear archaeological structure.

Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2021, the Lower Germanic Limes are a part of the Frontiers of the Roman Empire.
