NETHERLANDS ~ Museum Rembrandthuis - Amsterdam ~

... Nice view of the"Sydelcaemer or Anteroom", where the famous Dutch painter Rembrandt entertained his guests... and it was in this elegant room that he conducted his art dealing business... the Rembrandt House Museum in Amsterdam shows the unknown aspects of the painter’s every day life, his living quarters, and his workshop... it has an almost complete collection of his etchings... many of them show what went on in the workshop... and you can see his private collection of samples of plants, animals and seashells... Thanks a lot Josep!【ツ】

The Rembrandt house dates from the 17thC, Rembrandt lived and worked here from 1639 till 1658 and is located in the old Jewish neighbourhood of Amsterdam. It is is also the house in which his son Titus was born and his wife Saskia died.

In 1911 the house became a museum. A modern annex has been built next to the Amsterdam Rembrandt’s house in 1998. Together, these two buildings are today a museum of Rembrandt’s life and work.
