CANADA ~ MacKay's Ice Cream - Cochrane - Alberta ~

... Lovely view of people lined up for MacKay's Ice Cream🍦 on a sunny summer day in the 1990's... and it is just as good today as back then... you still got to line up... but part of the fun is the lineup and interaction with everyone... a taste of tradition for a lot of families on the weekend... they serve ice cream in cups, regular cones, sugar cones (and gluten free sugar cones), waffle cones and chocolate dipped waffle cones... you can get a kid scoop, single, double or triple scoop of ice cream👍... the ice-cream is famous, the location is historic, and the experience is cultural... with wonderful💙 whale🐋 stamps to raise awareness about five endangered whale populations... Big Thanks Glenn!(✿ ♥‿♥) wish I could taste this "MacKay's" ice cream, sounds delicious😋

In 1948 James and Christina MacKay started creating ice cream and 74 years later the third generation, MacKay’s (Mark and Meghan Tayfel) continue to make the delectable ice cream in a separate building located in Cochrane. The couple use over 300 recipes to create their creamy concoctions with 100% Western Canadian high butterfat cream.

Cochrane is situated at the base of Big Hill in the Bow River Valley and was established in 1881 as the Cochrane Ranche, after Matthew Henry Cochrane, a local rancher. It became a village in 1903 and was incorporated as a town in 1971.
