... Lovely view of the first house designed by Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí... it has been called “the house where it all began”, containing many of the seeds that would blossom in Gaudí’s later works... it marks the beginning of Gaudí's artistic career and is considered to be one of the first masterpieces of Modernism... the most important source of inspiration in all Gaudí's work is the world of nature... the building is covered with spectacular green and white tiles... the facades are full of details (sculptures, earthenwares, ironworks)... today the house has been transformed into a museum... although the least famous of Gaudi's work it is definitely worth seeing... Thanks a lot Josep&Assumpta! (✿ ♥‿♥)
Designed by the 31-year-old Gaudí between 1883 and 1885, Casa Vicens was built as a summer home for stockmarket dealer and broker Manel Vicens i Montaner.
Casa Vicens was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2005 and is one of eight projects that the architect built in or near Barcelona.
