Val Grande National Park is a protected area located in Piedmont, in the north of Italy, at the border with Switzerland. It is most notable for landscapes of the High Alps and has an area of more than 15.000 ha near the Maggiore Lake. Most the park is mountainous with peaks of over 3000m and the majority of the area is forested.
The Val Grande National Park was established in 1992 and in 1998 the area of the park was extended.
Since 2013, the National Park along with that of the Val Sesia - has become part of the World Network of Geoparks protected by UNESCO.
