ALBANIA ~Valbona to Thethi trail - National Parks

...Breathtaking nature view and my first written and stamped postcard from Albania and both places are National Parksツ...it shows the trail from Valbona (995m) over the Valbona Pass (1.759 m) to Thethi (716m)... follows the route of an ancient mule track linking the tribal regions of Shala and Nikaj... about two-thirds of the territory of the country is either hilly or mountainous .. The Republic of Albania is a Balkan nation in south eastern Europe and situated on the eastern shore of the Adriatic Sea, bordering Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia and Greece.

The areas around Thethi and Valbona constitute two separate Albanian National Parks, the Thethi National Park and Valbona Valley National Park.

Valbona Valley National Park is a part of the Prokletije mountain range. Designated in 1996, the park includes the Valbona Valley and the Valbona River and lies between high and craggy peaks all strictly protected natural areas.

Thethi is a national park in the extreme north of the country, designated by government decree in 1966 and is located along the Theth River and features several mountain peaks over 2500m height.
