BURUNDI ~ Making banana wine ~

... My second fantastic card coming from this small African country... a wonderful new addition to my collection... the land of culture and beauty... but sadly enough is it one of the 10 poorest countries in the world... not having enough water is one of the main problems that people in Burundi have... the lack of clean drinking water has led to many diseases in the country ( ⌣́,⌣̀)...that's also the reason why I always have mixed feelings by receiving a card from one of these countries...just saying... Thanks a lot Deo and a special Big Thanks to Maick for arranging  this swap for me! ♥‿♥

Banana is  an important material  to brew beers and wines. Banana wine is a traditional drink of the Burundi people and they consume a large amount of banana wines each year.

Ripened bananas  in a wooden trough being prepared for fermentation, to which is added a little sorghum flour. After having fermented four of five days, the beer is ready and is pored into smaller jugs, ready for consumption.

During festivals or on important occasions, the Burundi people all like to drink banana wines for celebrations.
