Mexico city, one of the largest cities in the world, was founded above the prehispanic city of México, Tenochtitlan in the year 1325 by the Aztecs and was conquered by the Spaniards in 1521.

The Historical Centre is the oldest part of Mexico City and it’s also the area that contains some of the most appreciated cultural treasures of the country.

It was recognized as Heritage City in 1987 due to its Historic Center and its Xochimilco National Park.
