GERMANY ~ Stendal ~

.... Many pretty views of a former Hanseatic town... well-preserved and renovated medieval place with impressive historical testimonies from 1000 years of history... magnificent churches, the town hall and the two remaining city gates are still proof of Stendal's former wealth... the town also has interesting stories and many imposing buildings from the Brick Gothic period... with great matching stamp💛 and lovely first day postmark👍 celebrating the town's 1000th anniversary... Thanks a lot Dustin!¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Stendal is the largest town in the Altmark located in the north of Saxony-Anhalt and is one of the oldest towns in the old Mark Brandenburg.

Stendal was first mentioned in 1022, and in 1165 it received city rights. In addition to the core town, another 18 villages with a total of 30 districts belong to the "heart of the Altmark".
