CZECH REPUBLIC ~ Český Krumlov - UNESCO ~

... Lovely nightview of one of the most picturesque small historic towns in Europe... it is exceptionally well preserved and  each of its corners is magical and charming... the essence of the town is medieval, but there are Renaissance and Baroque monuments as well... the Vltava River flows through the enchanting center, a river that divides this town in two and gives the medieval town a very special Romanesque atmosphere...  the splendid Gothic and Renaissance castle tower can be seen from any point in town... it is perhaps a cliché but the town is like the setting for a fairy tale and visitors come from all over the world... Thanks a lot Rudka!❀◕ ‿ ◕❀

Český Krumlov is a town in the South Bohemian Region.

The Historic Centre of Cesky Krumlov is best known for the fine architecture and art of the old town and Krumlov Castle. Construction of the town and castle began in the late 13thC at a ford in the Vltava River, which was important in trade routes in Bohemia.

The town became the seat of the Duchy of Krumlov. Between 1938 and 1945 it was annexed by Nazi Germany as part of the so-called Sudetenland.

The town's German-speaking population was expelled after liberation by the American Army during World War II and it was restored to Czechoslovakia.

The historic center of the town was inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 1992.
