The Sanctuary of Oropa is located in Oropa city in Piemonte region.
It's a Roman Catholic devotional complex and the construction began in 1617 near to the pre-existing Black Virgin of Oporo. The 12 chapels (plus another seven nearby) are united by a devotional path, and inside these chapels scenes from the story of the life of the Virgin are represented.
Oropa is one of the nine sites on the Sacri Monti of Piedmont and Lombardy on the UNESCO list since 2003.
