GERMANY ~ Berlin ~

... View of a typical yellow city sign of Berlin... being the capital of the country, Berlin is also the largest city in Germany... with a *related* great special stamp commemorating music legend, David Bowie🎸🎶... in honor of his 75th birthday... and with nice special postmark... because at the very peak of his career in the late 70s, Bowie moved to Berlin mainly to get away from drugs and crazy fame... Bowie played, lived and loved in this city while he worked on three albums... his years in Berlin were together with Iggy Pop... Thanks a lot Dustin! (✿◠‿◠)

Berlin is located in  northeastern Germany, east of the River Elbe and became the capital of Germany in 1871 and has an area of 891.1 km2. The first time that the name Berlin appears in writing is 1244. It was located strategically between two significant historic trade routes. It is one of the oldest towns in the world.

Berlin takes its name from a West Slavic word meaning "river rake", a scaffold of beams built over a river to prevent logs from jamming; the river in question is the Spree.
