GERMANY ~ Bavarian Forest National Park ~

... Lovely views of Germany's oldest National Park... thickly wooded paradise for lovers of fresh air... most of the Bavarian Forest NP is mountain spruce🌲... together with the neighbouring Czech Republic Šumava National Park it represent the largest “green lung” in Central Europe... the Bavarian Forest National Park is a great place to visit year-round... criss-crossed by hundreds of kilometers of marked hiking, cycling and cross-country skiing trails... with nice stamp and special postmark about an important theme... "The dangers of climate change / Forest is climate protection"... a very topical subject these days because of the deforestation all over the world😟... Big Thanks Dustin!【ツ】

It was founded in 1970 and the Bavarian Forest on the German side covers an area 242.2 sq km. The park is located in the highlands between the Danube River and the Bohemian Forest.

The forest is comprised of spruce trees, European silver fir, European beech, Norway spruce, mixed mountain forest, highland forests, and water meadow spruce woods.

The landscape is primarily short granite and gneiss hills covered and surrounded by the dense forest. The Bavarian Forest NP features three key peaks of which GroBer Rachel is the highest with a summit of 1,453 m. The other two peaks include Lusen at 1,373 m and GroBer Falkenstein at 1,305 m.

Wildlife of the Bavarian Forest National Park includes popular animals like the lynx, the bear, and the wolf which make up the primary predators of the forest. Other mammalian species include deer, European bison, beaver, and otters.
