AUSTRIA ~ Salzburg Dom Cathedral ~

.. Next few days it will be a postcard journey through Austria thanks to Dustin💜 who was there on vacation... starting with one of the most beautiful and charming cities in the country, Salzburg... lovely view of one of the highlights inside the Old Town... the Salzburg Dom Cathedral... one of the city’s most striking architectural wonders that leaves an impressive stamp on the city skyline... with its magnificent facade and mighty dome it represents the most spectacular early Baroque building north of the Alps... each year, more than two million people visit the city’s ecclesiastical center what still contains the baptismal font in which composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was baptized and later played some of his most popular tunes to church goers...  with nice mail related minisheet👍...Thanks Dustin! (◕ᴗ◕✿)

Salzburg is the fourth-largest city in Austria and is situated on the banks of the Salzach River, at the northern boundary of the Alps.

Saint Rupert founded the church in 774 on the remnants of a Roman town, and the cathedral was rebuilt in 1181 after a fire. In the 17thC, the cathedral was completely rebuilt in the Baroque style under Prince-Bishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau to its present appearance.

As part of the historic center of Salzburg, it was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1997.
