...I found it...paradise on earth... but I think it's only for the rich and famous...*sigh*...
once again an idyllic and breathtaking example why the island Sri Lanka is called "Pearl of the Indian Ocean"...
A big thanks to my dear postcard friend Ravindra!!
Like always with a set of great and interesting stamps.
Taprobane Island is a rocky private island with one villa, located just off the southern coast of Sri Lanka opposite the village of Weligama. The island was named after the old Greek word for Sri Lanka. Access to the island from the coast is usually made by wading through the surf on foot, or by some on elephant or sedan chair.
About 30km east of Galle, the town of Weligama (which means ‘Sandy Village’) has a fine sandy sweep bay.Tourism and fishing are two main business.
There are many sites of historical importance and tourist attractions within Weligama and its vicinity.
