BELGIUM ~ Tongeren-Beguinage~

Really lovely aquarel showing the infirmary and St Ursula Chapel...I've been in Tongeren many times (is not so far from where I live)...definitely worth a visit!! Heel erg bedankt Aline voor deze leuke verrassing... especially for the beautiful quote on the postcard:
"To send a postcard is a good way to go somewhere without moving anything but your heart"
Love it!!

Tongeren is the oldest town in Belgium (founded 15 BC), as the only Roman administrative capital in Belgium. The city is a member of the Most Ancient European Towns Network.

The infirmary (dates 1262), initially a guest house and home for sick and old nuns. The corresponding St. Ursula Chapel was consecrated in 1294 and in 1701 replaced by a new classical building. From 1805 served as the infirmary and from 1821 as an orphanage school.
Other sights in Tongeren are Roman walls, medieval walls and a Gallo-Roman museum.
