USA ~Texas - Davy Crocket ~

Great postcard of a well-known and popular figure, particularly in Texas...he was portrayed by John Wayne in the 1960 movie The Alamo (this movie retells the story of the historic 1836 battle in the Texan War of Independence)
Thanks a lot Arnold!

Colonel David "Davy" Crockett (August 17, 1786 – March 6, 1836)
David Crockett was one of those very rare true statesman of history. He was elected as a representative from Tennessee to the US Congress. Crockett spent his entire career fighting and defending real individual liberty and the abuses of the US Congress violating the Constitution. In a fury of anger, David Crockett rose on the Congress floor, in 1835, when Congress again was violating the Constitution, and cried out: "Ya'll can go to hell. I'm Goin' to Texas!" Davy Crockett found some friends, packed up, and went to Texas to explore it.

USA ~Dallas-Old Red Museum~

Its always so great to find unexpected surprises in my mailbox... This is one of the two!!:D:D... A really unique looking redstone building and is one of Dallas oldest structures. Thanks a lot Carla!!
With nice stamps (especially the shirt stamp)!

Formerly known as the Old Red Courthouse because of the red sandstone which clothes the building, it has been fully restored to tis 1892 splendor, complete with an imposing clock tower and four story majestic staircase. The building is the 6th courthouse to stand in the same block of land-the very first block of Dallas when it was platted by John Neely Bryan.
