INDONESIA ~ Lorentz National Park - Papua - UNESCO ~

... Lovely views of a hidden paradise in the Papua region on the island of New Guinea. ... this is the largest protected natural area in South-East Asia and the only protected area in the world to include a full range of habitats and ecological gradients from snow-capped mountain peaks to a tropical marine environment... but despite its stunning beauty, Lorentz National Park has not escaped the challenge of preservation... climate change, exploitation of natural resources, and deforestation pose serious threats to the fragile ecosystems within it... hopefully through ongoing conservation efforts and awareness of the importance of preserving nature, this National Park will not only be a natural tourist spot, but also a guardian of natural wonders that must be carefully guarded... Thanks Serisa!【ツ】

This national park land covers an area of about  27.056 km² and stretches across three provinces, namely Highland Papua, Central Papua, and South Papua. Summarized from various sources, the name of the National Park comes from the Dutch scientist and explorer H.A. Lorentz, who explored the interior of Papua to the Mandala mountains in 1909.

Lorentz National Park is home to a number of rare and unique species of flora and fauna. No less than 630 species of birds and more than 120 mammals have been identified in this area, including birds of paradise, cassowaries, tree kangaroos, and various types of wild orchids.

The National Parks area is also host to significant cultural wealth, with dozens of indigenous ethnic groups living in and around the park area who have adapted harmoniously to their environment for thousands of years.
