... Great view of a world renowned concert hall and city emblem... this building with its iconic architecture lies on the banks of the Elbe and is surrounded on three sides by water... perched on top of a former harbour warehouse is a new glass structure that rises up to a height of 110 metres above ground level... in between: the Plaza, a public viewing platform with breathtaking 360° panoramic views over Hamburg, the Elbe and port... it has drawn over 25 million visitors since it opened in 2017 and became a momentous beacon in Hamburg music history... from superb orchestral concerts to chamber music, from groovy beats to soulful pop and the finest jazz: the Elbphilharmonie really does have something to appeal to everyone... Thanks Dustin!【ツ】
The Elbphilharmonie Hamburg stands today where Kaiserspeicher, the first warehouse in Hamburg was built back in 1875.
Designed by the prestigious Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron who priced the project at 200 million euros, with an opening scheduled for 2010.
After a succession of delays, revisions and legal disputes, the final cost for the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie came to 870 million euros and instead of the intended 3 years to build the concert hall, 10 years were needed.
