INDONESIA ~ Sangiran Early Man Site - Java - UNESCO ~

... Nice views of an archaeological site which is one of the important places in the world to study ancient human fossils and a treasure trove for archeologists.... inhabited for the past one and a half million years, Sangiran is one of the key sites for the understanding of human evolution.... it's here that hominid fossils dating back millions of years were found... the museum is displaying prehistoric human fossils, animal fossils, and even plantation fossils...Thanks a lot Fenny Shi!【ツ】
Excavations here from 1936 to 1941 led to the discovery of the first hominid fossil at this site. Later, 50 fossils of Meganthropus palaeo and Pithecanthropus erectus/Homo erectus also known as "Java Man" were found – half of all the world's known hominid fossils.

Java Man is estimated to be between 700,000 and 1,490,000 years old, it was, at the time of its discovery, the oldest hominid fossil ever found, and it remains the type specimen for Homo erectus.

Sangiran became a World Heritage by the UNESCO in 1995.
