Elbphilharmonie Hamburg launches "Mein Schiff 6" cruise liner... the fourth new addition to the Hamburg based TUI Cruises’ feel-good fleet was moored just beside the Elbphilharmonie.. populary nicknamed Elphi... built on a massive brick warehouse overlooking the harbor with a final height of 108 meters... Hamburg’s cultural landmark and a truly unique cathedral of music stands tall on the Elbe River... with nice matching special postmark issued to commemorate the 2-euro coin “Hamburg (Elbphilharmonie)”... The project is the result of a private initiative by the architect and real estate developer Alexander Gérard and his wife Jana Marko, an art historian, who commissioned the original design by the Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron. The Elbphilharmonie is not only a concert venue and a hotel but also a residential building. There are a total of 44 luxury apartments in Elphi.
The diesel-electric powered cruiseliner "Mein Schiff 6" has has a length of 295.3m, a width of 35.8m, a draft of 8.05m and a total of 15 decks.
The vessel has 1,267 cabins to accommodate up to 2,534 passengers, she is run by a team of approx. 1,000 crew members. The ship sails under the flag of Malta, her homeport is Valetta.
