USA ~ Indiana Dunes National park - Indiana ~

... Great view of one the 14 hiking trails at Indiana Dunes National Park... a unique relatively small park... the Indiana Dunes' environment, ecology, and history are really what make it a special place...exploring some of the biggest sand dunes you will find in North America... relaxing on fantastic beaches... miles-and-miles of great hiking and biking trails... Indiana Dunes also has remarkable biodiversity... they are a treasure trove of nature... over 350 species of birds have been observed... along with more than 1,100 native plant species... home to mammals species,  amphibians, different reptiles, fish, butterflies and countless other species... Thanks a lot Andrene and also a big thanks to your neighbour who posted it for me! (✿ ♥‿♥)

In 2019, Indiana Dunes got reclassified from a National Lakeshore to a National Park, the very first in the state of Indiana. It sits along the shores of Lake Michigan, about 80 km southeast of Chicago.

This 6,000-hectare site is the newest national park, and also 61st national park in the United States.
