Queen Mathilde was born on 20 January 1973 in Uccle, Belgium, working as a speech therapist before marrying Prince Philippe in 1999. Mathilde became Queen Consort after her father-in-law, King Albert II, abdicated in 2013.
They have four children together - Princess Elisabeth, 21, Prince Gabriel, 19, Prince Emmanuel, 17, and Princess Eleonore, 14.
Queen Mathilde’s 50th birthday passed without any grand celebrations, however, the Queen has been undertaking a series of mental health walks throughout the provinces of Belgium to encourage people to get outside and get active, and to talk about their mental health.
