NEW ZEALAND ~ Mitre Peak - Fiordland National Park - UNESCO ~

... A bit mysterious view of a well-known and striking iconic mountain... one of the most photographed mountains in New Zealand that rises a stunning 1692m straight up out of the fiord in Milford Sound, towering above the water... its also one of the tallest sea cliffs in the world... named because of its resemblance to the shape of the bishop's mitre, when viewed from the south... the peak is actually a closely grouped set of five peaks, although from most easily accessible viewpoints, it appears as a single point... there are six routes up to Mitre Peak... with another wonderful "Lord of the Rings stamp...Thanks a lot Susan!【ツ】

Fiordland National Park is over 1.2 million hectares in size and located on the South Island of New Zealand. It was established in 1952. Out of Fiordland National Park’s 14 fiords, Milford Sound is the only one accessible by road. Beginning under the  Rahotu / Mitre Peak, Milford Sound Piopiotahi (Māori name) runs 16km to the Tasman Sea.

Te Wahipounamu (Māori for "the place of greenstone") was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1990 and covering 26,000 km², the site incorporates four national parks: Aoraki/Mt Cook, Fiordland,Mt Aspiring and Westland National Park.
