The Roemer and Pelizaeus-Museum contains one of the world’s most famous collections of ancient Egyptian cultural monuments with outstanding treasures of the Old Kingdom from the age of great pyramids. 

Wilhelm Pelizaeus, the collection’s founder, gave his antiquities to his hometown Hildesheim in 1907, where the Pelizaeus-Museum was established in 1911.

It is also known for the ethnological holdings, such as the unique China collection and the internationally renowned ancient America collection.
