CANADA ~ Orca - Vancouver Island ~

 ... Another lovely whale postcard💙... original a vintage travel poster... a pair of orcas breaching off the coast of the island...Vancouver Island is one of the best locations worldwide to spot orcas (killer whales)....when it comes to whale watching tours, orcas are often considered the main attraction... the waters around Vancouver Island host large resident pods of nearly 100 of these whales, as well as small pods of transient orcas that travel across wide ranges of coastline... the late summer months are ideal for spotting northern resident orcas, which feed in the Johnstone Strait... Thanks a lot Glenn!! (✿ ♥‿♥) 

The orca or killer whale is a toothed whale that is an efficient predator. Orcas grow to be about 8-10 m long, weighing more than  3.600-5.400 kg. 

They are the largest member of the dolphin family. Pods usually consist of males, females, and calves of varying ages. Females and juveniles generally remain in the center of the pod, while adult males swim at the wings.
