The Nordkette, called the North Chain, Northern Range is a range of mountains just north of the city of Innsbruck. It is the southernmost of the four great mountain chains in the Karwendel.

Innsbruck is located in the west of Austria, on the river Inn, at the foot of the high Alps, the hilly area of Tyrol and is the capital of the Austrian federal state of Tyrol. The city is an internationally renowned winter sports centre,

The name translates as "Inn bridge". The name Innsbruck comes from the German words Inn, a river, and brücke, a bridge. It means "bridge over the Inn".
