GERMANY ~ Upper Middle Rhine Valley - Lorelei Statue - UNESCO ~

... .Beatuful view of The Middle Rhine Valley... this area is full off medieval castles, historic towns and vineyards.... the Lorelei figure sits on the most narrow and deepest point along the way...  a 3.3-meter-tall bronze female figure watches ships go up and down the busy waterway...  it is so narrow that boats need to be careful not to hit each other... hills on both sides come right down to the river... very interesting place to see... it's also famous for its echo, which features in many legends like the one about the siren Lorelei who lures sailors with her voice... with wonderful matching stamp and postmarks!💜👍 Big thanks Dustin!❀◕ ‿ ◕❀

The Middle Rhine Valley stretches for 65km between Koblenz and Mainz, in central Germany.

The Lorelei  is a 132 m high, steep slate rock on the right bank of the River Rhine in the Rhine Gorge (or Middle Rhine) at Sankt Goarshausen. The Loreley statue is located on the top of the pier at St. Goarshausen.

The bronze statue was created by the Russian artist Natascha Alexandrova Princess Jusopov and handed over to St. Goarshausen in 1983.

The Loreley Amphitheatre on top of the rock is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, part of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley World Heritage since 2002.
