MALAWI ~ Elephants - Liwonde National Park ~

... A fantastic new African National Park for my collection💚... one of the most beautiful parks in the country... this National Park offers one of the densest concentrations of wildlife in Africa... the park is known for elephant viewing and conservation efforts... you will have the opportunity to spot a lot of elephants... the elephant population has grown so much in the past years that it has become hard for them to survive, this is why some of them have been transported to other Wildlife Reserves, for what was “the biggest elephant translocation in Malawi”... that the photo on this postcard was taken by the sender itself at Mvuu camp makes it even more special👍... to see these "gentle giants of the jungle" in their natural habitat must have been amazing🐘... Liwonde National Park is the ideal place to enjoy a safari, holiday or expedition... Thanks a million Theresa!! (✿ ♥‿♥)

Liwonde National Park was founded in 1973 and is 548km2.  The park is situated on the left bank of the Shire River, south of Lake Malawi and near the Mozambique border. The park was named after Chief Liwonde who had championed its protection, harbours very diverse landscapes.

Mvuu Camp and Mvuu Wilderness Lodge are both situated on the banks of the Shire River in Liwonde National Park.

Liwonde incorporates the huge, scenic Shire River as well as quiet backwaters and lagoons, marshes, open savannah country, woodland and hills in the interior of the park. As a result of the wide variety of habitats, there is a great diversity of plant, animal and bird life present. Elephant, Sable and Black Rhino are the main game attractions.
