GERMANY ~ New Town Hall - Hanover ~

... Postcard about the World Expo 2000... it was located on the Hanover Fairground the largest exhibition ground in the world... with in the background the town hall, one of the landmarks on the Leine river... and one of the city’s most photographed buildings... initially some 40 million people were expected to attend the exhibition over the course of months, however eventually with less than half of this number the Expo was a flop and turned out a financial failure... with once more two wonderful special postmarks from "the State Garden Show in Kamp-Lintfort" 💚... Thanks Dustin!!ヽ(ヅ)ノ

The New Town Hall was opened in 1913, after having been under construction for 12 years.

It is a  castle-like building of the era of Wilhelm II in located outside of the historic city centre of Hanover.

The building is embedded in the 10 hectare Maschpark. The Old Town Hall is no longer used as the main seat of administration, but houses businesses and the registry office.

Twipsy was the official mascot of the EXPO 2000 world exhibition in Hanover. The figure was designed by the Spanish designer Javier Mariscal.
