GERMANY ~ Iberg Dripstone Cave ~

... Different views of a fascination underground... it is a public cave and geology museum... the path to the cave is approximately 160 metres uphill under the ground through the Iberg... there are fossilised sea creatures, high sinter cascades and awe-inspiring stalagmites to discover... it is the kingdom of the good dwarf king HĂŒbich, who, according to legend, lives in the Iberg and sleeps in the cave... the actual dripstone cave is 123m long... the total length of the cave is 300m... in the Museum am Berg, the "oldest family in the world" is displayed dating from the Bronze age... also a number of artefacts from that period... it is one of the most popular show caves in Germany... with cute "little mole" special postmark👍... the animal of the year in Germany... Thank you very much Dustin!✿◕ ‿ ◕✿

The Iberg Dripstone Cave is located in southern Lower Saxony near Bad Grund.  It is located on the western edge of the Harz mountains in the 563-metre-high Iberg mountain at a height of 440 metres above sea level in the chalk of an upper Devonian atoll reef.

The limestone Iberg mountain was originally a coral reef, formed about 385 million years ago...

The cave was discovered in the 16thC by miners. In 1524, the presence of caverns in the Iberg massif was mentioned for the first time. The Show cave opened 1874.
