GERMANY ~ Augsburg - UNESCO ~

... Great view of the city's historic main square with the impressive Town Hall and the Augustus fountain in front of it... one of Germany’s oldest cities with a 2000-year-long history... it also holds several Rococo and Renaissance masterpieces that can still be visited today... this ornate fountain is part of the UNESCO Site for its diverse and preserved architectural evidence of a more than 500-year-old history of water management... there is also an aquaduct, water towers, more fountains, canals and hundreds of bridges... with once more a lovely matching Christmas🎄 special postmark showing the town hall... Thanks a lot Dustin!❁◕ ‿ ◕❁

The city of Augsburg was founded in 15 BC by the Romans and named after the emperor Augustus.

Rising above the main square are the twin onion-domed spires of the Renaissance Rathaus, built by Elias Holl from 1615 to 1620 and crowned by a 4m-tall pinecone, the city's emblem (also an ancient fertility symbol).

The fountain on the Town Hall Square was completed in 1594. It was designed by the Dutch artist, Hubert Gerhard. In addition to the city´s founder Caesar Augustus, bronze sculptures of four river gods represent the main watercourses in Augsburg.

Water Management System of Augsburg was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2019.

Ich finde das ist eine überaus gute Sache! Das ist mir zum größten Teil noch neu. Ich führe ein Sugaring Studio in Frankfurt am Main.
