This Bükk National Park is situated in the Bükk, Hungary’s highest mountain range in Northern part of Hungary.

This National Park was established in 1976 and covers an area of 431.3km². 97% of its area is wooded (Oak, Beech and Hornbeam amongst others) which attracts a huge amount of flora and fauna: no less than 90 different species of nesting birds, all species of bat indigenous to Hungary hang out in the Park's karst caves.

It was named after its most common tree, the beech (bükk = beech).
