GERMANY ~ Schumann House - Leipzig ~

... Nice view of the former home of the composer couple Robert and Clara Schumann (one of the most famous women in Germany)... they lived here the first four years of their marriage... visitors can now see the entire wing where the Schumanns‘ apartment was and enjoy the unique and authentic atmosphere which the Schumann-Haus has to offer... the museum has portraits, music, pianos, and other sentimental memorabilia, reflecting their happy and yet tragic life together... what is truly special and unique about the house is the fact that it is a museum within a independent full-time primary school “Clara Schumann”, with a concentration in music... it's one of the few examples of classicist architecture preserved in Leipzig... with wonderful matching stamp❤️ and special postmark❤️ to celebrate Clara's 200th birthday...  Thanks a lot Dustin!【ツ】
The house had been built in 1838 in neo-classical style by Friedrich August Scheidel.

Following their marriage in September 1840, Robert and Clara Schumann had their first joint flat on the piano nobile of this classicist building and lived there until 1844.

Over that period, some of the most important compositions of Robert Schumann were created, including the “Spring Symphony” and the three string quartets Op. 41, dedicated to Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy.

Clara Schumann (1819 - 1896) was a pianist, composer, piano teacher and the first to perform many works by her husband and by Brahms in public.
