GERMANY ~ Eifel National Park ~

.... Many lovely views of one of Germany’s 16 national parks... forests and lakes are mixed with grasslands and shrubs so the landscape is constantly changing... it was the first conservation area that protected the upland beech forests... these trees were once the dominating vegetation in Germany and Central Europe... the forest had been used to produce timber for a long time and had experienced massive deforestation... they are now being transformed into wild, unspoilt woodland... you can discover the beautiful nature on trails that run through wonderful spots of untouched nature... home to the largest population of wild cats in Central Europe... the park now protects more than 2.170 endangered plant and animal species... Thanks a lot Sabine!【ツ】
The Eifel National Park extends over an area of approx. 110 square kilometres in the middle of the Hohes Venn Eifel nature park and is located in North Rhine-Westphalia. The park, which was  established in 2004 is still classed as a “National Park in development”.

Eifel National Park is part of the much larger High Fens – Eifel Nature Park, a cross-border protection between Germany and Belgium established in 1960.
