AUSTRIA ~ Kaiservilla - Bad Ischl ~

... Beautiful view of a place steeped in history, romance and tragedy... now a museum but once the "real home" of Franz Josef and Sisi... the summer palace of Austrian Kaisers.... for 60 years, Franz Josef came every year to this summer retreat... the villa gives an insight about the way the "Kaiser" and "Sisi" and their family used to live... so a must see for Sisi-lovers... it is also a place of immense historical significance... especially interesting to see is the desk at which Franz-Josef signed the declaration against Serbia in 1914 that set World War I into action... Big Thanks once more Dustin!! ❁◕ ‿ ◕❁
Bad Ischl  is a spa town and lies in the southern part of Upper Austria, at the Traun River in the centre of the Salzkammergut region.

The Imperial town of Bad Ischl was fundamentally shaped by the love story of the young Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph and the graceful Bavarian Princess Elisabeth, called Sisi. In 1853 the 23-year-old monarch and the 15-year-old princess got engaged; one year later they got married in Vienna. The wedding present from the emperor’s mother Sophie was the Imperial Villa in Bad Ischl.

The Imperial Villa is surrounded by an extensive park where the “Marble Palace”, the former tea house of Empress Elisabeth, is located.
