VANUATU ~ Mount Yasur Volcano Post ~

... A faaaantastic "hot" mailbox day... coming from the only postbox on the slopes of an active volcano anywhere in the world🌋... the mailbox near the molten lava with temperatures above 1000 °C is officially designated by the Vanuatu Post as a post office and mail is regularly collected by the postal agents...
Luckily only inside my postbox todayツ because we had a major heatwave here... days with temperatures above 35°C... I wasn't even in the mood to send postcards or update my blog... from now on it's cooling down and we had finally rain🌧️... me and my garden are so very happy... Thanks a million David for once more a really special postcard with great Mount Yasur postmark!! (✿ ♥‿♥)... sending a volcano postcard from close to the erupting volcano and sensing the raw power of nature must have been a unique experience!! → http://postcardsandtravel.blogspot.com/
Vanuatu is a state of Oceania located in Melanesia, in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, in the Coral Sea. The archipelago is composed of 83 mostly volcanic islands. The country is located southeast of the Ring of Fire.

Tanna is an island in Tafea Province and is populated almost entirely by Melanesians and they follow a more traditional lifestyle than many other islands. Some of the villages are known as Kastom villages, where modern inventions are restricted, the inhabitants wear penis sheaths and grass skirts and live in hatched huts, and the children do not go to public schools.

Mount Yasur  (Old Man) is an active volcano, 361 m (1,184 ft) above sea level, often called "the most accessible active volcano on earth". The glow of the volcano was apparently what attracted Captain James Cook to the island in 1774. Mt.Yasur knows explosions 10-20 times per hour.
