.... If you are a dino fan and want to see the "real" Jurassic world, this is the place to visit... it is the top paleontology site in the world in terms of density and diversity... the postcards shows the Hadrosaur or duck-billed dinosaur, and I read on Glenn's postcardblog that he did indeed see a full skeleton of a Hadrosaur that has been left in the ground as a permanent display (be sure to check out his nice blog
HERE ツ)... the whole site is a treasure trove of dinosaur artifacts, interpretive tour, trails and displays... dinosaur fossils from Alberta are found around the world in almost every major museum’s dinosaur collection... Thanks a lot Glen!! ❀◕ ‿ ◕❀
From backside postcard:
Large hadrosaurs such as Parasaurolophus maximum roamed throughout the lush forest and along winding waterways of a coastal plain, now preserved in layers of sediment within Dinosaur Provincial Park. Their large keratinous beaks and hundreds of crushing teeth would have easily processed the abundant vegetation.
Dinosaur Provincial Park contains some of the most important fossil discoveries of more than 40 species of dinosaurs dating back to the late Cretaceous Period, 75 million years ago. Since digging began in the 1880s, more than 300 first-quality dinosaur skeletons have been pulled from the park, a 27km stretch along the Red Deer River, in the badlands of southeastern Alberta.
The Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology in Drumheller, northwest of the park, houses one of the largest collections of dinosaur bones and fossils.
Dinosaur Provincial Park became a UNESCO site in 1979.
