GERMANY ~Garden Kingdom of Dessau-Wörlitz - UNESCO~

...Lots of wonderful views of one of the finest and largest English landscape parks in Germany and continental Europe.... the park is kept in its original state for a great part up to this day... you can even take a "gondola" boat- ride... Thank you very much Andrene! ❁◕ ‿ ◕❁

Wörlitz is a charming little German town in Saxony-Anhalt and has a history of more than 1.000 years.

The central Wörlitzer Park lies adjacent to the small town of Wörlitz at an anabranch of the Elbe river, making it rich in water and diversity. It was laid out between 1769 and 1773 as one of the first English gardens on the continent. According to the ideals of Duke Leopold III the park would also serve as an educational institution in architecture, gardening and agriculture, therefore large parts were open to the public from the beginning.

The park is massive covering nearly 17 square miles and featuring castles, lakes and canals as well as impressive trees, meandering footpaths and numerous bridges.

The Wörlitz Park is part of the Garden Kingdom of Dessau-Wörlitz, which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in November 2000.
