The Peak District is located in the central northern part of England, covering more than 1,437 km² parts of the counties of Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire and South Yorkshire.
This National Park is an area of great natural beauty with rugged, peat-covered moorlands and magnificent limestone dales, with picturesque towns and villages, historic churches and some grand houses.
The Peak District was designated as a National Park in 1951.
