Urbino is a small walled (brick and sandstone) town in the Marche region of Italy. It was once a simple village whose historic center became the “Cradle of the Renaissance.” With its Renaissance character, Urbino earned its place on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1998.
Urbino's Ducal Palace was the first ducal palace to be built in Italy. It was constructed in the 15th century by Duke Federico da Montefeltro. The Palace houses one of the most important collections of Renaissance paintings in Italy.
