...Great postcard coming from Central America...a beautiful view of Roatán, an island often called the Caribbean's best-kept secret...if only I could be on such bright blue beach right now...it's been raining for weeks here ☹... Thanks a lot Karolyn for sending a bit of "☼summer☼" into my mailbox!!
Roatán is the largest of Honduras’ Bay Islands even though it is only about 48 miles by 5 mile and is located between the islands of Útila and Guanaja.
With its location near the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef (second largest reef worldwide after the Great Barrier Reef) tourism is the most important industry on the island. It’s become an important cruise ship and diving destination in Honduras, with islanders also relying on fishing to make a living.
