The Yatala Dagoba, in the town of Tissamaharama is a stupa Buddhist religious monument attributed to King Yatala Tissa. It was built about 2300 years ago and restored to its former glory in the 1980s.

The wall of Yatala Dagoba is surrounded by sculpted  elephant heads and moat. Several important artifacts have been discovered, during the excavations at the site. A head of a Buddha statue, standing Buddha statue, and a figure of a king believed to be of King Kawantissa.

Tissamaharama is one of the most nicest towns in the southern coast.
