Chichicastenango, located about 140 km northwest of Guatemala City, is home to what is surely the most colorful native market in North and Central America, perhaps in all the Americas. The city is well known for its famous market days on Thursdays and Sundays.The city  is located in the mountains at 6,447 feet (1,965m)

Chichicastenango represent the linguistic groups of the Mam, Ixil, and Kaqchikel.
