AUSTRIA ~Vienna-United Nations-The Memorial Plaza~

...A very special postcard and my second one sent from United Nations... and with their own special stamps... Thanks a million Bettina!! ^__^

Only the United Nations is permitted to issue postage stamps, even though it is an organization and not a country or a territory. The United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) is the only postal authority that issues stamps in three different currencies: U.S. dollars, Swiss francs and euros. The stamps may be used for postage when used on mail sent from the United Nations offices in New York, Geneva or Vienna.

With 4 wonderful stamps:
International Year of Biodiversity - Geneva Vienna Definitive 2010 stamp
(right)The marginal inscriptions consist of the United Nations emblem with the text "Vereinte Nationen" above the emblem and the year "2008" below the emblem.
The Schloss Eggenberg in Graz.2003 (left)
and The Semmering Railway(2002)bridge stamp.

The office complex is located in Vienna, the capital of Austria, and is part of the Vienna International Centre, a cluster of several major international organizations. The UNOV was established on 1 January 1980, and was the third such office established.

The Vienna International Center, also known as the UN City, is one of the four official locations of the United Nations, in addition to New York, Geneva and Nairobi and also home to the International Atomic Energy.
